Recently, as one of the important events of the "Sino French Cultural Spring", the solo exhibition of works by French Chinese artist Danh ô o (Fang Xiaodang) titled "Stardust as Memory, Vines as Road" officially kicked off at Liaoning Art Museum. As a Chinese artist who has lived in France for many years, Danh ô o's works always revolve around the exploration of the relationship between memory, identity, and nature. In his creation, each piece begins with a quiet, almost spiritual private ritual - writing. When he started writing, he first used a brush to write down the words that could provide him with the most spiritual support at a specific moment, such as "struggle", "love", "hope", "good luck"... These Chinese characters are not meant to be viewed in the end, but for self dialogue and confirmation, because they are the roots of DNA and culture. Images such as stardust, vines, and roots intertwine in the picture, forming a fragile yet resilient aesthetic of life.
The works exhibited this time cover various forms such as oil paintings, composite materials, and paper-based creations. Danh ô o blends the subtle and restrained Eastern philosophy with the free and unrestrained Western expressionism through delicate brushstrokes and tense compositions, forming a unique visual style. The layout of the exhibition site is also highly ingenious, with the interplay of light, shadow, and space, as if the audience has stepped onto a "vine path" woven together by memory and nature.
